We've used the art of card counting to win millions of dollars from casinos. We can teach you how to count cards in blackjack in a matter of simple steps. Card counting is typically associated with memorisation.Luckily for those of us who struggle with memory, it has nothing to do with learning how many threes or queens are dealt out of the shoe by heart. When a player has more Aces and 10 Value Cards (10s, Jacks, Queens, and Kings) left in the shoe, the game of blackjack is in their favour. Card counting, then, is just keeping track of the ratio of low cards to high cards using a system.
The card values for Hi-Lo, the most often used card counting method, are as follows:
2–6 = 1
7-9 is =0.
10-Ace =-1
Depending on the value of each card as it is dealt, you will either add 1, deduct 1, or do nothing.
In a multiple deck blackjack game, we can always find out what our advantage is by looking at the true count. We just need to divide our Running Count by the number of decks that are still to be dealt to determine our True Count. Every true count in a conventional six-deck blackjack game shifts the house edge by 0.5 percent in favour of the player. Blackjack would thus be an even game if there was a true 1, effectively eliminating the house advantage. When a genuine 2 occurs, the house edge becomes the player's edge, bringing the player advantage to roughly half of 1%. A true three would result in a 1% player advantage, and so forth. This can change significantly based on the regulations.
